Recent developments– namely the universalized availability of smartphones, smart watches tablet and other smart devices – enable a new field of innovations in CAOS. Smartphones represent increasingly powerful computers, multifunctional sensory, wireless device communication and personal/local/global networking of things as well webbased multiuser and multicentre communication with central facilities and databases – to the hands of almost every patient, clinical practitioner or researcher. Concepts for apps using smart phones as sensor-integrated tools for clinical examination, surgical planning or follow-up surveys, teleconsultance and telemonitoring e.g. in rehabilitation, activity tracking are available or under development and providing another fascination facet of computer assistance. The goal of the workshop is to present and discuss concepts and potentials as well as regulatory aspects of this upcoming field of CAOS.
