B3
CAOS open source software tools and databases initiative

Type:
Basic educational workshop
Room:

CAOS research groups all over the world are using a large variety of tools and methods for their research. Original concepts are proprosed by many group, however these developments are in many cases based on similar basic software solutions (e.g. image processing), tools, data sets and devices that are not available on an open access basis and have to be implemented or acquired by each group individually worldwide. Networking and exchange could reduce redundancy of basic developments and could provide much larger databasis e.g. of software solutions as well as image data sets e.g. for statistical morphological or biomechanical modelling.

09:15–10:30 Contributions and discussion of all participants

The objective of the CAOS open source initiative workshop is
-to bring together people to share software and (anonymous) datasets for research of CAOS members
-to give an overview on known open-source software tools for CAOS
-to invite participants to share information on their potential contributions, software or datasets (e.g. viewers, simple image processing tools, registration and navigation demos, CT, MRI, models- and motion etc.)
-to agree on a mode of exchange between CAOS members and a related review process in order to ensure the quality of the contributions.
